70 WFMS 6th, 7th, and 8th graders attended Youth Legislature, a mock legislative session, at the Old State Capitol this week. Students ran for office, presented, and debated bills. Congratulations to 8th grader Quinn Levasseur who was elected as Governor of the session, and 8th grader Rylie Williams who was elected Speaker of the House.

Any 8th grade boy interested in playing high school basketball is invited to attend the upcoming tryouts for the West Feliciana High Summer League Team. Tryouts will be April 10th from 3-4:30 PM. Interested students should sign up in Coach Roberts classroom.

Thirteen lucky readers won a yummy steak lunch in the library! Their names were put into a drawing for every 10 AR points they earned during the 3rd nine weeks. Mrs. Lathrop toasted their success and encouraged them to keep on reading before serving her homemade chocolate lava cakes! Winners were Jaxson R. Smith, Eliana Grimsley, Quinn Levasseur, Myla Guerra, Kimberly Matta Juarez, Zaine Weller, Maddy Saint, John Levert, Carissa Ferguson, Zoe Smith, Averitt Grimsley, Khameron Massey, and Tommy Lastrapes. Pay $1 to ROCK YOUR SOCKS and help us celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st! Students can pay $1 to wear crazy socks and a blue or yellow shirt with their uniform bottoms. Crocks and slides are allowed! All proceeds support the National Down Syndrome Society.
