The WFMS Band and Choir were on fire 🔥 tonight at THE GRAND SHOWCASE!



📝 REMINDER from WFMS—We will host the GRAND SHOWCASE tomorrow night, March 27th @ 6 PM. Join us for a tour of our art gallery (Student artwork will be for sale 😁), performances by the choir band, and drama students, and robotics demonstrations. The library will also be hosting a BOOK FAIR!
Students in Ms. Parkerson’s 7th Grade Science class created models to represent the Coriolis Effect with balloons in a lab today. They learned winds do not move in a simple pattern, but instead move in a clockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere and a counterclockwise direction in the Southern Hemisphere due to the Earth's rotation.




75 of our 7th & 8th grade students went to the Old State Capitol this week with the Louisiana Youth Legislature. While there, Maggie Hawkins was voted President of Senate, Samantha Ponzo was voted Speaker of the house, and Mari Jackson was voted Lt. Governor. Our students also passed 2 bills into law and 15 students were named to the hall of fame!




The audience was truly delighted at the WFMS Choir DISNEY ✨ DAZZLE concert this past Monday night! A special thanks goes to Ms. Cierra Fountain for fostering our students’ musical talents!

The WFMS Robotics Team placed 3rd in our toughest competition yet! We competed against 17 teams!

Congratulations go to our choir students for their outstanding performance today in the LMEA District Solo & Ensemble Festival! Samantha Ponzo and Paige Johnson both received a Superior rating on their solos. Gabriela Orcino received an Excellent rating and Jomira Williams received a Good rating. The four of them also competed together as an ensemble and received an Excellent rating!




10 students from WFMS and WFHS met with coastal experts today as part of a project called THE 300. This selective group of students will participate in a series of coastal restoration workshops and field trips this spring. Today they toured The Water Institute of the Gulf (TWIG) and saw a physical model of the Mississippi River at the LSU Center for River studies.




WFMS recognized the 6th grade SCHOLARS today during ROAR with music, games and a special treat 😁 It pays to do well in school!!




WFMS ROCKED the COLOR RUN this morning. WFMS—THE BEST!!




Students from Ms. Parkerson’s 7th Grade Science class are researching the pros and cons of genetically modified foods and completing a simulation to genetically engineer a tomato plant to be pest resistant.




The WFMS Quiz Bowl Team won SECOND PLACE at the Junior Beta State Convention this year! Congratulations go to Quiz Bowl members Andrew Dantin (front), Felipe De Solar, Benjamin Ferguson, & Thy Hong 😁
