Reflecting on Last Week 

  • West Feliciana celebrated employees with 30 years of service at our February school board meeting! A special thanks goes to these employees for giving their loyalty and commitment to serve our students, school system, and parish for 30 years!

  • Bains Lower Principal Andrea Mathis is recognized by Elementary Supervisor, Zanovia Curtis, as the 2018-19 Principal of the Year!

  • Ms. Abby Cochran, WFHS Principal, recognizes Ms. Jessica Walker at the 2018-19 Teacher of the Year.

  • Mr. Mark Lester, WFMS Principal, recognizes Ms. Margaret Anne Pruitt as the 2018-19 WFMS Teacher of the Year.

  • Ms. Jodi Lemoine, Bains Elementary Principal, recognizes Ms. Jill Thibodeaux as the 2018-19 Elementary Teacher of the Year.

  • Freshman Tionna Brown and sophomore Angel Moore record their group member, freshman Ayanah McCray, as she presents the forces of flight in Ms. Alana Lyons' Physical Science class.

  • WFMS students have a blast at the Beta Club Convention in Lafayette!

  • Falynn Cupit works on a FlipGrid on Critical Thinking for Ms. Kristin Patton's class.

  • A student in Ms. Karen Brooks' class explains to his classmates how to solve a problem by drawing Quick tens and ones!

  • To ensure that her students meet their goal of learning 42 letters by the end of Pre-K, Ms. Tammy Dawson had the students play alphabet bingo.

  • West Fel Teacher's Academy!  Teacher Academy 3 Session:  "We have the data, now what?"

  • WFHS Juniors in Ms. Ourso's English III class planned and crafted homes to connect trends in the tiny house movement to the Transcendentalism era of American literature.

  • Jarlaysia Davis, Victoria Williams, Jenya Gilmore, and Emma Goodman are working on an energy pyramid in a food chain during stations in Ms. Cavin's class. 

  • Ms. Megan Odom's second graders, Davis Cobb, Evan Lejuene, and Dadren Clark, make observations of popcorn during a science lesson on properties of matter.

  • Trinity Curtis & Keishon Marshall are learning fractions in Ms. Samarah Whitfield's class.

  • WFMS students in Mr. Kenneth Annio's art class participate in an art contest to draw the Old Benevolent Society building located in downtown St. Francisville.

Looking Ahead 

  • Congratulations go to Ms. Karolyn Jones-Taylor as she will lead WFHS as the new principal starting in the 2019-2020 school year!

  • Please consider attending the Rural Homestead during the annual Audubon Pilgrimage.  The coupon below allows FREE admission for a family on March 16 and 17.

 

  • At the West Feliciana School Board meeting on January 15, the School Board voted to put before the voters on Saturday, May 4, 2019, a bond issue to build a new elementary school consisting of grades 1-5, a Ninth Grade Academy, and renovations of the WFHS Auditorium and the WFHS Career/Technical Building.  The bond issue of 9.95 mills over 30 years would generate $52 million dollars to complete all projects.
  • The Advocate (Thursday, January 17) reported on the School Board meeting: West Feliciana School Board sets May 4 election for $52.6 million school bond issue | St. Francisville
  • At the February 19, 2019 West Feliciana School Board Meeting, the school board entered into a agreement to purchase 40 acres of property adjacent to WFMS for the proposed elementary school.  The Advocate (Thursday, February 21) reported on the School Board meeting: West Feliciana School Board to purchase 42 acres for proposed elementary school
