Aiming to adopt one polar bear family, Bains Elementary School students raised enough money through a schoolwide sale in March to adopt three families.

Gifted Enrichment Team second- and third-graders sponsored the fundraiser for the World Wildlife Fund, making all the sale items, advertising with flyers and posters and acting as cashiers.

In preparation for the adoption, the GET classes learned about the World Wildlife Fund, polar bears and the environmental issues that threaten their habitat, and shared the information with the school through various presentations.

The GET students sold fluffy slime, painted rocks and homemade cookies. The goal was $250 to adopt one polar bear family. The sale raised $750.
