Reflecting on Last Week

Last week we took time to honor those we lost on September 11, 2001.  We were fortunate to be chosen by WBRZ to start the day by leading the Baton Rouge region in the Pledge of Allegiance.

WBRZ Pledge of Allegiance September 11

We continued our week with several events that demonstrated leadership and service to others.  Community members and students volunteered their time to several organizations, which once again proved we are one big family in West Feliciana Parish.

Community members and school leaders participate in the Bains Elementary annual Read-In, where they volunteer their time to read to the elementary classes.

Grateful Moment #grateFEL

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.  On Monday, one of our pumps went down to our cooling tower at Bains Lower which left us with no air conditioning.  We made plans to make the best of it for our students which required a lot of creativity and coordination by the administration and staff.  I am truly #grateFEL for the hard work and team work it took to make a challenging day a fun day for the students.

We are thankful for our technology department who in two days managed to set up over 600 laptops for elementary students. We now have over 2,600 devices in classrooms across the district. We are also fortunate to have a faculty and staff that know learning goes beyond the technology tool itself. We have the people who know how to use these resources to truly create meaningful learning experiences for our students.  #grateFEL #21stcenturylearning
