Reflecting on Last Week 

  • Emma Parker, Gunnar Reese, Malia Sullivan, RyleeAnn Rogers, and Zoe Rogillio lead the morning announcements at Bains Lower!  They did a GREAT job!

  • WFHS Seniors, Jack Hosford, Mary Elizabeth Barrow, and Lily Ray celebrate their graduation from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy with Ms. Deborah Sternberg, Chair of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

  • Riley Charlet and Keyana Cummings we're invited to attend the Southeastern Scholars Showcase last night. 

  • Bains Lower Bingo Night was a lot of fun and some lucky students went home with a prize!

Huxley Self won a gift basket!

  • Ms. Margaret Anne Pruitt explains the "Huey P. Long Press Conference" assignment to Bryce Shifflett, Dy'Monique Emery, Ja'Zephine Banks, and Madelyn Schulte. 

  • Darrien Street answers question as "Huey P. Long" from Macey Jones in Mrs. Pruitt's Social Studies class.

  • Bains gifted students on field trip to the National military Civil War Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

  • Bains Elementary students put a creative touch to George Rodrigue's Blue Dogs!

  • WFMS student, Hayden Travis, paints an American flag on canvas in Mr. Kenneth Anio's art class. He then received a WFHS game ball for his hard work, talent, and patriotism.

  • Treyse Andrus and Eli Milton display their wildlife canvases in Mr. Kenneth Annio's class.

  • Parker Major, Madison Delaney, and Alyscia Ernest are demonstrating the principle of interns in Ms. Nicole Lynch's science class.

  • Ms. Christian Funderburk and Ms. Latesha Brumfield are diving into interim test data during ELA Professional Learning Community (PLC).  #teamwork

  • Congratulations go to Mary Davis Grezaffi for achieving the 100 point accelerated reader club! She received a WFHS game ball for her efforts.

  • Early Head Start students, Noelle and Tevin are discovering things in the Science and Exploration Center! 

  • Raelynn F. was playing peek-a-boo with Ms. Clarencia Grimes in her Early Head Start class!

 

  • Ms. Akisha Milton and Jayden are creating hand print caterpillars in their Early Head Start class! Red was his favorite and first color!

  • Ms. Kayante' Allen and her Early Head Start students are getting in shape and moving with enthusiasm to, "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!"

  • During a lesson how plants and animals help each other, Ms. Corinna Sage reads "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle . The students experience an interdisciplinary lesson in science and ELA.

  • Candido is "making the mark" with hand writing in his Head Start class!

  • Ms. Akisha Milton and Ms. Semien's Early Head Start students explore and use sand.

  • Tevin is moving from his chair to the floor, one step at a time...

  • WFMS has their annual book fair next week.  Ms. Janet Lathrop has worked very hard to coordinate and market the event.  Several of our students used a "Fashion Book Walk" to highlight a favorite book.

  • Bains students build a space robot and use coding to maneuver the robot.

  • Bains students build a cooling fan and use coding to operate the fan.

  • We had a unique opportunity to recognize a very hard working employee for 30 years of service!  Congratulations, Ms. Patricia Fudge!

  • At our March 19th school board meeting, we honored our students who participated in the Old Benevolent Society contest.  The students did a great job!

  • Congratulations go to the following students who placed at district literary rally and qualified to compete at state literary rally:

Caleb Dixon - 3rd place in Fine Arts Survey

Olivia Wilson - 2nd place in Introduction to Business Computer Applications

Bryce Jarrell - 1st place in Business Computer Applications

Anna Kate Holmes - 1st place in US Government

Ricky Schober - 3rd place in Spanish III

Jack Pangburn- 1st place in American History

Evan Friedman - 2nd place in World History

Elisabeth Emery - 1st place in Financial Literacy

Frankie Dorsey- 6th place in Spanish II

  • Bryce Jarrell, Anna Kate Holmes, Jack Pangburn, and Elisabeth Emery placed 1st in their division, so they were also recognized with the Southeastern Freshman Scholastic Achievement Award. By earning this award, they will receive a scholarship stipend if they attend Southeastern University.    

  • The Bains Lower Synergy event was full of excitement as the students were able to release some energy by celebrating each other and their progress as a group.  A special thanks goes to the faculty, staff, and administration for making this event a part of the positive culture that they work to create for our students everyday.

  • Seniors in Ms. Amy Adair's Advanced Math class play a relay race game to review coordinates placement on quadrants to prepare for their upcoming test.

  • Congratulations goes to Bains Lower student, Aubrie Beauchamp, for making the 100 point Accelerated Reader Club!

  • As a celebration for finishing their reading of Shakespeare's Macbeth, Ms. Layla Dupuy's English II classes enjoyed a Macbeth movie day with their favorite movie snacks. They analyzed various scenes of the film in order to compare it to the original play. Ms. Layla Dupuy is VERY proud of their dedication to this unit of study!

  • On March 2, 2019, the West Feliciana 4-H'ers participated in the 2019 4-H Contest Day. Contest day consisted of three sections- Cooking, Photography and Sewing. The sewing groups have been meeting every Monday for the past few months and were able to model their awesome garments at Contest Day. The 4th and 5th graders constructed pajama pants, while 6th graders made vests. That day participants could also submit a photograph and/or a cooking dish into the other competitions. Everyone that placed 1st in the cookery contest gets a chance to go on to the Regional Cookery Contest in Ponchatoula on May 14th.

  • Bains students start their day off with reading before the school day begins.
