               West                  Feliciana Early Childhood Programs that are located at Bains                  Lower were recognized for providing high quality                  instruction and care to the state's youngest learners (Birth                  to 3) by the Louisiana Department of Education.                   West Feliciana was designated the highest honor in this category                  by being placed on the State Department of Education's Honor                  Roll.

                            Congratulations go to WFHS Saints Runner                  Kelly Goff who signed her National Letter of Intent today to                  the University of Louisiana Lafayette.  She has earned a                  Cross Country/Track and Field scholarship and will compete as                  a Ragin' Cajun next year!

               All of our students at each school were                  treated to a traditional Thanksgiving Meal for lunch on                  Thursday.  A special thanks goes to each cafeteria staff                  and Ms. Pat Gilmore for making this delicious meal for our                  students.
               
               Ms. Christian Funderburk's class enjoys a                  lesson outside so that the students can enjoy the cooler                  weather.
               
               Ms. Alex Kilcrease checks Gabrielle Tate                  and James Hudson Deville's understanding of triangles and                  their attributes while they sat and discussed during their                  "Knee to Knee and Eye to Eye" time.
               
  
                            In case you missed it, Thursday was World                  Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day.  At Bains Lower, many of                  the employees wore purple ribbons for the cause.
               
               Ms. Holly Caffarel taught a mini-lesson                  on the proper way to use the keyboard and touchscreens with                  her First Grade students!
               
  
  
               A special thanks to our local Rotary for                  taking the time, effort, and commitment to help our students                  prepare for the future by teaching lessons from the CHOICES                  Program. This interactive decision-making workshop empowers                  teens to achieve academic success and pursue their career                  aspirations.
               
  
  
  
               Ms. Liza Bryant and Ms. Linda Holmes met                  with Bains Lower Elementary's Lighthouse Team.  The                  students had the opportunity to discuss their individual                  responsibilities and also some of their goals for the                  year! A special thanks goes to Marcus Doherty, KaDrick                  Jackson, Elliot Vosburg, Reef Wax, Ashton Sellers, Sawyer                  James, Ja'Kaylinn Washington, Lydia Gilliam, Journey                  Fowler, Adlynn Moon, Piper Cutrer, and Chloe Singleton for                  their hard work and leadership!
                 
               Ms. Kim Tate, Bains Custodian, enjoys                  reading time with Isabella Wheeler, Lila Robillard, Carissa                  Ferguson, Dakota Soniet, and Kyleigh Whitfield.
               
               Our school nurses do a great job and at                  this time of the year, they are quite busy!

               I was fortunate to be recognized in                  Washington DC as the 2018 Louisiana Superintendent of the                  Year! While in DC, I had the unique opportunity of meeting                  with Senator Bill Cassidy.

               Ms. Ali McMillan, Maggie Cloughley, and                  Jonirea Cummings are asking a marine biologist about                  protecting the Earth's oceans.
               
               Ms. Janet Lathrop is teaching 6th grade                  students ways to research in Leadership class.

                             The high school food drive,                  as part of the Class Wars competition, was a tremendous                  success! The juniors won, having collected 283 items with the                  seniors taking a close 2nd place.
