Originally, the mission of the SADD chapter was to help young people say "No" to drinking and driving. Today, the mission has expanded. Students have told us that positive peer pressure, role models and other strategies can help them say "No" to more than drinking and driving. And that is why SADD has become a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and teen violence as well as teen depression and suicide.
SADD's mission: To provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions. Students sign a pledge of commitment to stay drug and alcohol free and act as a positive school peer leader.
The West Feliciana High School chapter of SADD has been active since the Fall of 2000 and is sponsored by Leeneta Ewing. Dues are $15 which includes a club T-shirt. Meetings are held once a month during first hour. Students participate in a variety of activities to promote our mission including chalk walks, Rock the Belt, Relay for Life, State Conference and PY/PM. Special thanks to the West Feliciana Parish Drug & Alcohol Awareness Council and MADD for their continued support of WFHS SADD!
