School Board Meeting ~ 

March 19

Reflecting on Last Week 

  • Bains Lower students, Zyriel Dock, Adelea Hanchey, Ja'Mirah Arrington, Aubrey Dwyer, and Kaeson Hausey lead the morning announcements at Bains Lower.  They did a great job!

  • A special thanks goes to the Bains Elementary PTL for the "7 Habits" banners, and our Maintenance Department for hanging the signs.  

  • A SHOUT OUT! goes to our parents at each school.  Our parents in West Fel are very supportive and participate in our nightly programs such as our art night at Bains this week.

  • Seniors in Ms. Briana Brumfield's and Mr. Connor McCain's World History classes developed their understanding of WWII at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

  • Seniors Cody Barron and Colton Scott observe a Higgins boat built in New Orleans and used during the D Day invasion at Normandy Beach during their field trip to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

  • Senior Cody Barron snaps a picture of the vehicles used at the D-Day Normandy Beach Invasion.

  • Summer Knight learns more about the history of an American flag that flew from the mast of the attack transport USS Crescent City during the Guadalcanal Campaign.

 

  • Dylan Weaver and Semion Gwin learn more about the Battle of the Bulge.

  • Caroline Smith and Emily St. Romain admire the extravagant details within the "Road to Berlin" exhibit at the National World World II Museum in New Orleans.

  • A few World History students gather together to take a trip down "The Road to Berlin" and "The Road to Tokyo".

  • Bains Lower 1st grade classes were visited by Bigfoot after the students read Bigfoot Cinderella!  A SHOUT OUT goes to Mr. Eric Mendel, AKA Bigfoot!

  • Fifth graders create John James Audubon birds that will be on display this weekend at the Pilgrimage ticket office. 

  • WFMS student enjoy the 3rd quarter PBIS dance.

  • Ms. Ashley Pate and Ms.Tonya Aaron co-teach a Eureka Math lesson and begin by reading a story to help students get a deeper understanding of the difference of addition and subtraction.

  • Ms. Genevieve Langlois is helping Jayden Reynolds and Jordan Williams find the area of polygons, triangles, and rectangles. 

  • Aubrey Metz and Shenya Martin solve math word problems on their tables in Ms. Brittany Brumfield's math class. 

  • Jomira Williams, Anna Grace Berry, and Naya Rogers are engaged in "Rock Cycle" stations.

  • Victoria Allen becomes the character in a book in Ms. April Davis' Leadership Class.

Looking Ahead 

  • West Fel is a great place to live, learn, grow, and teach!

 

  • At the West Feliciana School Board meeting on January 15, the School Board voted to put before the voters on Saturday, May 4, 2019, a bond issue to build a new elementary school consisting of grades 1-5, a Ninth Grade Academy, and renovations of the WFHS Auditorium and the WFHS Career/Technical Building.  The bond issue of 9.95 mills over 30 years would generate $52 million dollars to complete all projects.
