School Board Meeting ~

February 19

Reflecting on Last Week

  • In case you missed it, the Bains faculty, staff, and students were honored by the Louisiana Department of Education at a celebration for some of the highest math test scores in the state.  Bains has top ranking math proficiency scores at each grade level. The icing on the cake is that Ms. Stephanie Whetstone won West Feliciana Parish School's first Milken Educator Award!  The award comes with a $25,000 check to Ms. Whetstone.  She is one of only 33 teachers in the nation to receive the award, and the only teacher in our state.  A SHOUT OUT! goes to Bains and Ms. Whetstone for being true difference makers each and every day!

  • WFHS Senior, Kennedy London wins her heat in the girls 60 meter hurdles on last Saturday during the LSU High School Qualifier.  (Picture courtesy of The Advocate)

  • And we danced!  Well, I did not but the WFMS students danced for 3 hours.  A special thanks goes to the WFMS GaP and parent volunteers for turning the gym into a dance floor.  And a SHOUT OUT! goes to the WFMS teachers and administrators for supervising the dance. And an even louder SHOUT OUT! goes to Ms. Teresa Pritchard for showing off some moves.

  • The John S. Dawson Foundation visited the Governor's Mansion on January 25th to share the history and legacy of John S. Dawson with Governor John Bel Edwards. The foundation's goal is to create a community center on the property that once was John Dawson High School.

  • Congratulations go to our Young Author Winners at WFMS!
